Imperium Jaskini Behemota

SUMMARY
of a poll and a discussion
that took place in the Behemoth's Lair community
(http://heroes.net.pl)
on the topic
"Creature levels".

Prepared by
Ururam Tururam (ut@heroes.net.pl)

The community of the Behemoth's lair organized a poll and a discussion on
the question "How many creature levels should the towns have?"
Only the members of the Community were allowed to vote in the poll.
Both members and guests were allowed to express their opinions in the
discussion. The results follow.

There were 46 votes in the poll:
No (0%) votes for 4 or less levels;
17 (37%) votes for 5 or 6 levels;
24 (53%) votes for 7 or 8 levels;
5 (10%) votes for 9 or more levels;
No (0%) votes for no need for monster levels.

Two observations: according to the results the monster levels should be kept
and there should be more than 4 of them.

There were 93 posts in the discussion. A lot of them were too detailed to
be reported here, but quite a number of them contained valuable remarks.
The digest follows:

-----
4 or less:

None

-----
5 - 6:

- Six. But why not to introduce a possibility of two units of the same level
in castles? Not to choose between them but simultaneously.

- Five and two units of each level in each castle at the same time.

- Six. And the first level ones should be usable even in late game.

- 5 or 6. There were too many levels in H3 and too little in H4.

- 6, not more. Better add more castles.

- 6. The difference between lvl1 and lvl7 units in H3 was much too big!

- Six, and quite small power differences between them.

- Not too much, it will be easier to balance.

-----
7 - 8:

- Heroes 3 was the best so let’s keep 7 levels.

- Not too little levels to avoid leprechaun=dwarf, but not too much
to avoid a general mess.

- 8. A step forward starting from H3.

- 7 or 8. Too many levels would be really messy.

- Let it be 7. But the highest-level creatures should have their growth about
1 per month and be really deadly!

-----
9 or more:

- The more levels the more possibilities! But even the weakest units
must have something interesting embedded.

- Why all of you think that each castle should have the same number of
generators? I would vote 5 to 9, but of course the game must be balanced
and the castle with more generators should have weaker units.

-----
No levels needed:

None
